OUT OF CHARACTER
I. RESPECT OTHERS. We are all people, and we're all here to have fun on this site. This includes fellow members, guests, and staff. If you have a problem with anyone, you can contact a staff member or administrator directly.II. KEEP THINGS PG-13. There could very likely be younger members on the site, so please remember to keep things PG-13. This is also mentioned in the ProBoards TOS. If a thread has excessive violence (more than mild things like scratches/blood from battle) or sexual themes, remember to mark the thread's subject with an [M] tag for mature. For anything more than that, please fade to black. On a similar note, cussing is allowed to an extent, just as long as you don't aim it offensively at another person.
III. DO NOT DISCRIMINATE. Dawnbreak is a non-discriminatory site. No matter where you're from, your religion, your race, your identification, you sexuality, your gender, or anything within that category, we'll always be here to support you.
IV. NO SPAMMING / ARGUING / ADVERTISING IN THE CHATBOX. Please. It can get very annoying when someone is constantly filling the chat with pointless schtick. The chatbox is a place for loose conversations and fun, not fighting or irritating people. If you really need to, take any arguments to PMs. Also, don't advertise in the chat, we have a specific place for advertisements and would prefer for them to be posted in said place.
V. ACTIVITY. A roleplaying site isn't really functional without any members. Even if you can't roleplay, popping in on the site/in the chatbox is fine, at least we'll know you're still with us!
VI. ONE ACCOUNT PER PERSON. This is to avoid the hassle of switching between character accounts, determining which accounts are and aren't ic/ooc accounts, etc. If you're found to have multiple accounts, you'll be questioned by a staff member and if you fail to provide a good enough reasoning, all but one of the accounts will be deleted.
CHARACTER CREATION
II. PROPERLY PORTRAY DISABILITIES. Characters with mental/physical disabilities/conditions are allowed, but please portray them as realistically and respectfully as possible.
III. NAMING. Due to the nature of the site, options for naming are much wider since the clans have a wider vocabulary (mostly on the more magical side). All I request is for you to have a reasoning for picking weird names.
IV. CHARACTER APPLICATION. Please use the application provided when creating a character. When you finish your application, notify a staff member either through tagging them on the thread or posting on the pinboard. If an application remains inactive for some time, it will be archived. Don't worry, you can always message a staff member to reactivate it.
V. NO MARY-SUES / GARY-STUS. No one is perfect, and that includes your character. When you're making a character, keep the idea of bad traits/weaknesses in mind, not just good traits/strengths. Of course, there's no problem in making a character who thinks they're perfect when they aren't.
VI. UNNATURAL COLORS. You can make cats with unnatural eye colors, but unnatural fur colors and markings must be purchased.
VII. NO PURE BREEDS. Unless your character is/was formerly a kittypet, you need to purchase pure breeds because it's extremely unlikely for cats of the same breed to have offspring together in the wild for multiple generations.
VIII. LGBTQ+ FRIENDLY. Your character can be attracted to and can identify as any gender and we won't stop you.
IX. TWO HIGH POSITIONS PER PERSON. Members are allowed to have a maximum of two cats with high positions. These cats must be in different clans.
X. KIT CREATION. You can only create a character that is a kit if you have staff permission beforehand, someone with a pregnant she-cat has allowed you to be in the litter, or someone has agreed to adopt your character.
IN CHARACTER
II. LIQUID TIME IS ALLOWED. In Dawnbreak, we allow liquid times. This means that you can post in multiple threads at once as the same character and you get to determine which thread's events came first.
III. KILLING CHARACTERS. Do not kill the characters of other players without the player who the character belongs to's permission prior. You need the permission of a staff member to kill off high-ranked/plot relevant cats.
IV. NO GOD-MODDING/POWERPLAYING. You can't control the actions of other characters and your character isn't invincible nor do they have super-strength. How would you feel if someone forced your character to do something you didn't explicitly state they did, or someone's character was impossibly strong and not even getting hit once?
V. FAIR BATTLES. Please keep battles realistic. A kit wouldn't win a fight with a vicious dog. If you're fighting against another person's character and neither side is willing to lose, you can ask a trusted member to run a random generator/selector to determine the victor.
These rules are subject to change at any given time.
